Complex Event Processing

Knowing what is happening has always been essential for both individuals and organizations. In today’s business world knowing what is going on is more crucial than ever. An increasingly fast-moving and competitive business environment is being driven forwards by the continuously accelerating launch and global spread of innovative technologies. In this world, the ability to recognize, pre-select, correlate and abstract events and then make decisions based on them should be supported at the lowest possible level by the benefit of having emerging opportunities and developing threats revealed at an early stage.

Existing ICT systems already produce a vast amount of events, whose potential remains largely untapped because of poor recognition and processing. In past few years, a new field of technology, Complex Event Processing (CEP), has emerged to fill this gap.

CEP focuses on the derivation of new “complex events” from multiple event occurrences or streams typically correlated in a causal, spatial, or time dimension. Read more on Complex Event processing at Wikipedia.

Mycroft Mind has developed its own CEP Platform (MM CEP Platform). It comprises key technology components, development tools and methodologies for the agile development and implementation of CEP systems on site at the customer.

Key functionalities provided by the MM CEP Platform are as follows:

  • event collection and contextual information acquisition from multiple event streams and data sources
  • detection of specific behavioural patterns
  • detection of anomalous behavioural patterns
  • complex event generation and reporting
  • supervision and administration of the functionalities mentioned above via web based interface
